Obviously because The Incredibles was so loved and successful the only logical decision is to make a sequel, 14 years later of course, and then release it a month after everywhere else in the UK.

Incredibles 2 continues were the first film left, Superheroes are still illegal and it is up to Elastigirl to help show why they shouldn’t be. Each member of the Parr family face a different struggle in their lives as both heroes and normal people.

I really enjoyed this film a lot, it does what a good sequel should, takes the best elements from the first film, Jack Jack’s powers, the family working together as heroes, and improves on these elements, but it doesn’t rely solely on recreating the first film.

The action in the film was excititng and fun, it was awesome to see the extent of the characters powers and see them working together and saving the day. It was great to see Bob (Craig T. Nelson) develop his relationship with his children and really try to do what Helen (Holly Hunter) had probably been doing for a while. There’s heart to this film as expected and it’s another great element of the film. Jack Jack and his powers were as much a spectacle as expected and his friendship with Edna Mode was something I didn’t know I needed but I need more of it now.

I only have two problems with the film, one of them being the villain the Screenslaver, I won’t spoil anything but it was predictable, from the character’s introduction. It was enjoyable following Helen try to take the villain down but as the film progressed it was obvious the way the villain’s actions would go. The motivation made sense but it didn’t feel as connected to the Parr family as Syndrome did. Although superheroes had a hand in creating this villain it wasn’t Elastigirl or Mr. Incredible directly so it wasn’t as interesting. It might have been similar to the first film if the superheroes had a hand in creating the villain, but the idea is something I find interesting. The villain was menacing enough but it just missed something that I think Syndrome had.

My only other problem is that I didn’t feel this film was worth the wait, the expectations were high and this film delivered on alot but not enough to justify the length of time it took to create this film. I expected an epic something and this wasn’t it which is dissapointing but there are still elements I did enjoy just not enough to wait 14 years for.

Incredibles 2 was a great film, we finally have a sequel to the amazing first film and although the villain was disappointing it’s still an enjoyable film, one that can definitely be watched by adults and children (although, I’d watch out for the flashing lights in one scene).

Overall, I’d give the film an 8/10.
